PMX Firmware for TCR
The PMX firmware for TCR includes the brand new MBR algorithm, specially developed for precise applications in people flow and road traffic. It is ideal for smart city solutions and offers even more options and features than older versions or conventional radar devices.
With various licensing options and new features, it optimises the efficiency of data collection and offers simple two-step installation as well as support for LoRaWAN 1.1 and regular firmware updates for continuous improvements.
High measuring accuracy
The new firmware enables a measurement accuracy of up to 95%*, which is a significant improvement over previous versions of the TCR devices. This significant increase ensures more precise and reliable detection of objects, resulting in more accurate data for applications such as traffic analyses and people flows in urban environments.

Installation in two steps
The PMX TCR radar counters are easy to install in just two steps, without the need for specialised technical knowledge. It is only important that the device is precisely aligned according to the instructions to ensure the high accuracy. This means that the system is quickly ready for use and immediately provides precise measurement results for various applications.
Objects up to 30m
TCR radar counters use size and speed filters to categorise counted objects up to 30 metres in length into up to four different groups. This process enables precise detection and tracking of objects.
Energy efficient communication
PMX TCR meters support the LoRaWAN 1.1 standard, which was developed for long-distance communication of small amounts of data with low power consumption. This technology offers an energy-saving alternative to mobile networks for IoT devices that require a long battery life and a long range.

With the latest model-based analysis function, older Parametric TCR meters (G1 and G2) can be upgraded. This upgrade significantly increases their lifespan and value by improving the accuracy and efficiency of data acquisition and bringing performance up to the level of the latest models.
TCR Gen-1
For older Generation 1 Parametric TCR devices, the firmware licence can be purchased and installed to bring the device up to date.
TCR Gen-2
A firmware licence is also available and can be installed for Generation 2 TCR devices purchased via Parametric, PMX or a PMX Solution Partner.

If only people are to be counted, it is usually sufficient to install the PMX firmware for TCR and select speed class 0. If you want to count people from different directions at the same time, we recommend installing an LS licence.
The LS licence is required to count people and bicycles individually. For analysing and counting objects up to a speed of 30 km/h, groups can be formed according to their length and speed.
If you purchase the "Slow Traffic and Pedestrians Kit", the LS licence is already pre-installed.
Smart City applications usually require full flexibility. On a typical city street, there are bicycles, cars, buses and even heavy goods vehicles.
With the PRO functions, multiple vehicles can be categorised simultaneously and in up to 4 categories. Even extra-long vehicles are no problem with the new MBR algorithm introduced with the PMX firmware.
Yes, you can install and use the original TCR firmware developed by Parametric GmbH without the licence model.
The new firmware team at PMX Systems has completely rewritten the firmware using a model-based software engineering (MBSE) approach, which has led to a huge improvement in speed measurement accuracy and length estimation and allows flexibility in vehicle length.

If the device operates with speed class 2 (HS), movements below 20 km/h are not counted.
Switch the device to ‘LS’ (set speedclass 1, save) for tests. This should cause the total counter, which counts all movements, to go up.
